Seamless source failover
Several sources per channel. When one stalls, errors or ends, the next working source takes over while viewers stay connected.
Features
What NeXa does today, grouped by area. Every item below is part of the current panel.
Streaming engine
Live channels run in their own stream engine, which keeps running while the panel is updated.
Several sources per channel. When one stalls, errors or ends, the next working source takes over while viewers stay connected.
Each source is read once and shared by all viewers of the channel, with a prebuffer so new viewers start quickly.
Turn a playlist of movies and episodes into a 24/7 linear channel, in order or shuffled, without re-encoding.
Minute-by-minute recording per channel with days to keep, a disk guard, and catch-up as TS or HLS.
VOD and series with TMDb metadata, import with review, duplicate detection and bulk episode adding.
Load balancers
A load balancer is any Ubuntu server running the small NeXa node agent. Nodes never see the database.
Servers → Add server shows a command to run on the new machine. The agent runs as its own user under systemd.
Viewers are checked on the main panel and sent to a node with a ticket that is valid for 60 seconds, from their address only.
Every node is checked every 2 seconds. A node that fails, stops reporting or is full gets no new viewers.
A viewer who comes back within 2 minutes returns to the same server while it is usable.
Drain a node: no new viewers, current viewers keep watching. Disable it to move everyone off.
A node can record a channel for catch-up from its own copy of the stream; the main server takes over while it is down.
Resellers and credits
Every reseller sees only its own part of the tree, on every page and in every API answer.
Resellers with sub-resellers to any depth. Parents manage their sub-resellers, never the other way round.
Lines are created and extended from a credit balance. Top-ups, transfers and charges all land in the credit log.
Named permission sets for resellers with their packages, prices, trial rules and a dashboard notice.
Give staff only the admin areas they need. Menus, pages and buttons follow the group.
API keys that act as their owner: read-only or full, limited by IP, rate limited, shown once and revocable.
Changes made in the panel or with a key are recorded with who did it.
Players and compatibility
NeXa answers the Xtream API, so players built for it can log in with a line's username and password.
Live channels, movies, series and catch-up through the player API, plus M3U playlists.
The setup wizard imports a database dump and keeps IDs, so existing playlists and logins keep working.
Tables, forms and dashboards adapt down to small screens, so resellers can work from anywhere.
Security
Refusals look like a wrong password to the player and are written to the security log for you.
Per reseller: the host names its lines may use, inherited down the tree and only narrowed below.
Per line, reseller and member group, checked on every player endpoint. Forged forwarding headers are ignored.
Allowed IPs and CIDR ranges per line and a limit on how many addresses may watch at once.
Bind a line to its network, and block hosting networks, proxies and VPNs.
Allowed user agents per line; known library and scraping user agents are refused.
Brute-force and scanner bans, honeypot usernames, sign-in lockout and optional two-factor sign-in for accounts.
Operations
The things you need at 3 a.m. are already there.
Connections, viewers, throughput and live streams at a glance, server cards with CPU, RAM, disk and network, and an Action required list.
Scheduled database backups encrypted with your own key, with retention. Downloads need the password and work once.
Copy every backup to S3-compatible storage and SFTP servers, and run a weekly restore test.
Announce new content to your channel and send panel alerts (server down, stream down, failed backup) to a separate chat.
A new panel asks once: start fresh, or migrate from another panel.
Ask for a license and we will help you install NeXa or move your current panel.
